Hangar 27 Organization (H27O)

Current Issues

The non-profit Hanger 27 Organization has been formed to manage total operations and maintenance for the Magnuson Park Hanger 27 as recommended by the "Report to the Mayor and City Council, February 1999" (the Blue Ribbon Report).

The Hangar 27 Organization goals are to:

  • work to ensure that the hangar remains available for a broad range of public uses.

  • manage operations in a way that meets the needs of present users and, whenever possible, accommodate future users and the needs of Seattle's diverse communities.

  • maintain, upgrade and improve the facility in a way that will cause minimal disruption to facility users and the community.

  • strive to keep the space affordable to the users of the facility and the citizens of Seattle by using any city funding to leverage state, federal grants and private funding.

Current Issues

Convince the Seattle Parks Department and Seattle City government to keep hangar 27 as a mixed-use community gathering space instead of signing a long term lease with Arena Sports to turn it into a dedicated sports facility. See how you can help.

Get funding for earthquake retrofit and general renovation.

Current News:

Brodeur(Seattle Times), May2008

City Council Finance Committee met on 4/17 and recommended abandoning funds set aside for repair of the hangar. This action perhaps clears the way for the Parks Department to sign a contract with Arena Sports without having to get City Council approval.
